How can I fix that? Which again, makes sense, because pings are not supposed to go out on another NIC. If it fails to start with errors about the driver not being found, review the steps listed above for compiling hostapd again. I probably even have to configure other files. "failed To Create Interface Mon.wlan0: -95" So now I'm proceeding and I want to establish connectivity in a real situation.
In grey, with a line-over, here is the description of the problem, as I saw it before I solved it. Failed To Create Interface Mon.wlan0: -95 But in the end of the day, that all there is to it. Thank you for your help! It depends on hostapd to handle authenticating clients, setting encryption keys, establishing key rotation policy, and other aspects of the wireless infrastructure.
rtl8192cu: Tx queue select: 0x05 Didn't make any difference. Could Not Set Interface To Master Mode You can assign them statically and there shouldn't be any issue. Near the top of the script, you'll see the following lines: # broadcasting interface BROADCAST="wlan1" # receiving interface broadcast is connected to RECEIVE="wlan0"Replace "wlan1" with your "broadcasting" wireless interface and "wlan0" The 2.4 GHz is heavily crowded.
iptables -t nat _A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.1.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE The only thing left after this is to make static ips for my other comps. This ifconfig command is also the moment at which the firmware is loaded (and not when the driver loads, as one could expect). HELP!!! I tried to work with the 8192CU dongle, because it supposedly supports the 5 GHz band as well. Your script helped me understand what was going on much better. Here is my new ifconfig and iwconfig file not much change though. Wlan0: Could Not Connect To Kernel Driver
Will it work without a DHCP server or does this require additional actions? hostapd is started as part of the preup process for my bridge between my internal ethernet port and the wireless card. I am using and script that automates all the process (the start isc-dhcp-server I think is not necessary): #!/bin/bash sudo /bin/bash -c " start isc-dhcp-server echo 1| sudo tee /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables Check the scan results for your area and choose a name.
So I need traffic rerouted between wlan0 (10.10.0.19) and wlan1 (10.0.0.19) while services and devices should be reachable from the internal network but of course not from external computers. "failed To Create Interface Mon.wlan0: -95 (operation Not Supported)" That can't even happen with the ath9k_htc driver or any other N USB chipset because Atheros and others are refusing to release the complete code or specifications on the newer chipset. If not, then you need to check the IP tables configuration.

I guess hostapd can't do this on its own.. If your router is supported for master mode, detailed step to downloading and installing the driver as suggested in each of the individual routers. On Ubuntu/Linux, you can right-click on nm-applet, click "Edit Connections," select the wireless network, click edit, then set your IPv4 settings to "Manual." I have no idea how to do that See this answer as an example.Although you have to wait 48 hr to award bounty declared on it. –Khurshid Alam Jul 20 '13 at 13:23 I am the one
Please help me out! Details on this are available on the wpa_supplicant RSN preauthentication documentation section. I wonder if it is really necessary to use the DHCP server. I'd like to try sharing the ppp0 or mobile broadband connection into the wifi-access-point.
First, we'll setup the wireless interface settings, then the wireless environment settings, and finally the authentication and encryption. I'm still curious I seriously believe there has to be a configuration done in the /etc/network/interface file. However BIND DNS and Squid weren't accepting connections from the new network segment and after this was fixed it all worked. Regards from Buenos Aires Argentina!!!
Until now I connect to my ISP with the dongle designated as wlan1 (through a regular wireless modemrouter). The connection between the computer in the middle and the subnet on the right is in my case: wlan1. A .tar.gz file is attached to this post- extract it and you'll get a file called "ap_ctl." Move it to /usr/bin (or somewhere else). So the main problem I guess is that I don't understand what has to be done with the computer (AP to be) in the middle.
If so, you may be better off configuring the AP using the "Master mode" feature of the ipw2100 driver (the mac80211 drivers that come with other wireless cards use hostapd like eth0 no wireless extensions.
