The real foldername might be something like \\schoolcomputer\disk3\mainfolder\subfolder1 etc etc. I think the problem was with NetBIOS and had nothing to do with the device's drive itself or windows version. A general fix I've ran into before is to release the IP Address, flush the DNS, and renew the IP Address. I run ccleaner to clean up my registry. Win 7 has issues mapping drives on Linux/Unix boxes... Has the mapping ever been successful on this user's profile?
