I REALLY appreciate your help. I tried going in under control panel and turn the updates on but it will not allow me to do so. Unless there's some other way through the maze that leads me to something else more helpful. The solution for me turned out to be rebooting into safe mode which then allowed me to rename the folder.

Saga LoutDec 15, 2013, 7:39 AM Did you try the FixIt button in the KB I linked you to? the dotted lines here i mention means missing CSD Version Service Pack 3 which gets erased from the registry also.Additionally to this ntdll.dll and some other dlls gets corrupted but the I can't believe that's what did it, but it sure looks that way. It didn't do it, but could you please explain the "Event Cache" statement?
